The benefits of the Dull Grass?

mate.jpg

The dull grass (Ilex paraguayenis) is a native tree of the tropical forests of South America and member of the family of the holly. The same one produces sheets and stems that are used to prepare the mate, an infusion consumed in Uruguay, Brazil, Paraguay and Argentina.

The mate is the infusion prepared with sheets of dull grass, previously dried, cut and ground. Uruguay is the biggest consumer of this infusion in the world. Such it is like that, that the tradition of taking mate might consider to be a national identity factor. Although the Uruguay does not produce dull grass, it exports 200.000 kilos per year to the dispersed Uruguayans for the planet.
